Green Labour Rights and the Value of Corporate Sustainability Reporting
A New Harmonization Framework in Labour Law in the Face of Climate Change

The article examines how the climate crisis and the ecological transition are driving the emergence of labour-related rights linked to the environmental dimension, both within strictly labour regulations and in provisions situated outside the traditional core of Labour Law, yet with a direct impact on workers. On this basis, the paper pursues a twofold objective: first, to identify, organise and characterise this set of rights in order to assess whether it is possible to speak of a recognisable category of green labour rights; and second, to analyse the role played by sustainability reporting regulation in their operability, systematisation and, where appropriate, practical consolidation. The study argues that sustainability reporting can act as a particularly relevant mechanism for making these rights identifiable, comparable and verifiable within the company, while also strengthening their connection with governance, collective bargaining and corporate accountability. From this perspective, it is concluded that climate change not only introduces new risks or requires regulatory adjustments, but is also prompting a reconfiguration of the space of interaction between the social and the environmental within Labour Law, thereby contributing to greater coherence and visibility of an emerging catalogue of green labour rights.
