Reform of the level of unemployment assistance or the Janus Syndrome

This article highlights the conception of the level of assistance as an instrument to support the reform of the Spanish labour market, while at the same time discussing the reforms brought about by the Employment Act and the Minimum Basic Income Act.
The persistence of welfare aspects is highlighted, both in terms of the factors that are considered for access and duration, and in terms of the groups integrated into its scope of protection.
Likewise, the creation of the employment support supplement is discussed, arguing its autonomous benefit characteristics rather than an assumption of incompatibility, as well as its role in promoting employment in parallel with the commitment to actively seek new employment. Finally, there is a brief section on the new types of offenders and the role of the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate in checking compatibility.
