Alternatives for the cost containment measures in the social protection system. About some "precarious" figures

Abstract

The economical crisis and the deficient coverage of the requirements of the Spanish social protection system, in addition to legislative measures of a budgetary nature, has carried on the use of certain figures aimed at the direct provision of a service to the beneficiary, saving costs to the system. All of them have a common denominator: the development of their own professional activity in precarious working conditions and, therefore, with severe deficiencies in public protection. The effect is highly pernicious, since, even though they have the virtue of contributing to the containment of public budget, they are marginalized from public welfare. Starting from such a perspective, this paper examines the implications of voluntary work, social collaboration, informal careers, household employees or social economy entities, in particular the cooperatives of associated work.
