Notes on the social protection of elite athletes and social protection in women's and amateur football

Abstract

This paper sets out to analyse the social protection of elite athletes and social protection in women's and amateur football, regulated by Royal Decree 2/2018 of 12 January, which lays down certain rules for the implementation of Royal Decree-Law 5/2015 of 30 April on urgent measures in relation to the commercialisation of the audiovisual rights of professional football competitions, the main purpose of which is to regulate the contributions of entities participating in La Liga to the promotion of sports and the development of amateur football. For this purpose, it will first address the definition of elite sport, elite athletes and elite athletes and then study the contribution of elite athletes to social protection and to the participation of athletes in international competitions. After this, it will analyse the contribution to social protection in women's and amateur football, and the promotion of the grass roots movement. Finally, it will discuss subsidies for the social protection of elite athletes and support for Spanish athletes participating in international competitions.
