Financial sustainability and economic sufficiency of health systems Social Security: a global vision

Authors

Abstract

This chapter offers a global and comparative overview of different pension systems, categorized into universal, mixed, selective or residual, and emerging systems. It analyzes the differences between developed and developing countries, highlighting the challenges they face in terms of financial sustainability and economic sufficiency. Parametric reforms, such as increasing the retirement age and linking pensions to inflation, are presented as solutions to address population aging and ensure the stability of the system. The conclusions emphasize the need to balance sustainability and sufficiency in future reforms, in a changing demographic and economic context.
