Access to the source code of the algorithms used by the Public Administration to process applications for certain benefits was not permitted, until the Supreme Court’s ruling by the Administrative Chamber on September 11, 2025. In the case of the social bonus for electricity bill payments, the Supreme Court granted access, meaning that certain algorithms and their source code used by the Spanish Social Security system are now accessible, allowing the public to understand the rationale and justification for its decisions.
