Abstract

One of the key elements of the right to pension is the mechanism to periodically increase the amount initially granted. This article examines the Spanish index for annual revalorization that was introduced almost three years ago. In light of the foreseeable freezing of pensions in coming years, the conclusion points at the inadequacy of the current regulation unable of guaranteeing a sufficient income for citizens in old age.
