Abstract

Following the adoption of the Law 30/1995, those who exercise a collegiate profession have been advancing on the path towards integration into the RETA (a system of contribution to the Social Security traditionally used by the self employed); however, in many cases this integration remains optional, at the expense of funding the Social Security system. Twenty years after the adoption of that Law, this paper discusses the current state of affairs, especially after the Law 27/2011, which requires a minimum social protection of mutuals (private insurances) which are an alternative to RETA.
