Keywords:
Social Security, coordination, portable documents, European health card, European UnionAbstract
Based on the idea that in the European Union there is a system of coordination of the different social security systems of the States that make up the international organisation, as opposed to harmonisation, based on the regulations in the current Community regulations and the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, this paper analyses the nature and effects of the portable documents that accredit the ownership of social security rights, as well as the procedures that have been established when there are doubts as to their validity or the accuracy of the facts on which their content is based. In the final part of the work, based on the comparative method, proposals for reform of portable documents are presented in order to adapt them to current needs and requirements.
