Abstract

The treatment of ailments suffered prior to joining the social security system for the purpose of recognising a status of permanent disability for a major disability is once again being analysed by the Supreme Court. On this occasion, and reiterating previous doctrine, it once again reflects on the scope of blindness as a situation worthy of the status of major disability and recognises that the aggravation of injuries suffered by the worker before entering the employment market and which already determined their dependence on a third person for major life activities cannot be taken into account for the recognition of a new protected situation, thereby denying the right to financial compensation for major disability.
