The purpose of this study is to identify the features, advantages and disadvantages of the gig economy; its impact on social security and social protection of employees; and to find ways to overcome the problems associated with the rapid growth of the gig economy in terms of social protection of employees. Ways of solving the existing problems in this area and the steps that need to be taken were proposed. Both international labour legislation and the legislation of individual countries, including Ukraine, need to be amended accordingly.
