Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine how international law has been covering unemployment protection for migrant workers. It analyzes how the unemployment protection of migrant workers has been included in the international coordinating standards, examining the few bilateral agreements signed by Spain that include this contingency. The regulation of unemployment protection for migrant workers in the ILO and within the Council of Europe is also described. Finally, we focus on the legislation of the European Union, analyzing in depth its regulations to try to clarify its complexity in the different cases it covers.
