Abstract

This study analyzes how the conception of work has changed throughout history and how new forms of work have been developed. The social, economic transformations and in the productive systems have motivated these changes. These modifications, motivated in large part by the rapid growth of technological advances, currently imply new ways of conceiving work, centered on the person; effects on the labor market, characterized mainly by the performance of work related to services for others in the private sector; and new forms of work, such as teleworking, work in Industry 4.0, Smart Working, work within the framework of the Gig Economy, or coworking. Technological development does not stop, as demonstrated by the emergence of the so-called Industry 5.0, so people need to continuously train to respond to current and future challenges.
